Ombré / Balayage Technique
Step 1

Step 1

From the apex of the head create a slightly diagonal section ending just behind the ears. Beginning in the nape, then take horizontal sections, half an inch to one inch apart (depending on length and thickness of the hair).

Step 2

Step 2

Apply bleach to one half of a cutting comb with a color brush and smoothen it until it is nice and even.

Step 3

Step 3

Now choosing vertical sections half and inch to one inch apart within your horizontal sections. Hold ends of section with your hand leading the bleach covered comb. Dipping tip only of your color brush into the bowl of bleach, now gently start applying bleach on the outer edge mid-length of the section. Working your way up as there is less amount of bleach on the brush. (This ensures softer de-coloration near the roots.) Placing the bleach covered half of the comb underneath the length and ends of the hair strand generously apply bleach for stronger bleaching result. Repeat as you work your way up to the apex.

Step 4

Step 4

The side to top sections should be slimmer in width as well as narrower. Choose delicate application particularly around the hair line.

Step 5

Step 5

Depending on the location of the parting ensure soft to intense application, following the same method as you frame the face.

How to perform a skin allergy test?

It is recommended to perform a skin allergy test 48 hours prior to application.

1. Take some drops of hair color and oxidizer and replace the caps on the 2 products carefully.

2. Mix these two amounts in a non-metallic bowl.

3. Using alcohol 90°, cleanse a small area of skin of apporximately 1 square inch behind the ear or on the inside of the elbow.

4. Apply the mixture to the test area and allow it to dry. Do not whipe

If within 48 hours of the applicatio, you notice rednes, itching or irritation, do not use the product! Non-reactivity to this test does not guarantee that a reaction may not occur during future use; however this test remains an important precaution. If, after coloring or on the days following coloring, skin reactions occur such as skin itching, redness, swelling of the face or eyes, seek medical advice.

How to start?

The following steps will help you determine which Lômé Paris shade and oxidizer to use:

- Determine the hair’s natural level

- Determine whether to lighten, darken, match the natural level or change tone

- Determine the tonal value desired. Consider your client’s complexion and eye color as well as the result they want to achieve

- Determine whether you need to lift or deposit color and determine how many levels you want to lift

What if the hair has more than 50% grey hair?
